Autumnal breaths.

It has been quite a while since I've filled these pages with anything. I do not have much to say at the moment - I just wished to fill this page with a bit of optimism to dispel the trend of ambiguousness and hopelessness pervading previous entries.

It is autumn. I baked pumpkin cookies today, so it is officially fall in my mind, and I have loved every moment of it thus far. I hope the early onset of low temperatures does not push this season by without my notice. The feel of the air lately has made me long for last year's trip to Wyoming. It was so beautiful there in the fall...not to mention such a great experience overall. I cannot, sadly, go on a service trip this fall, but I WILL be going to Utah on the upside, which I'm sure will be lovely. Hopefully I can see some of my friends down there too.

School is school. I'm majoring in Spanish and English, though I don't like to perceive myself as confined by such. There's just too much to open one's eyes to. I feel quite inadequate often, but I'm trying not to allow such sentiments to consume me. I'm hoping to keep exploring photography and poetry/fiction to keep my soul in balance. I had quite a bit of fun with my camera this summer...I bought a new lens for Christmas last year, and was finally able to experiment with it a bit. I have realized (well, okay...not really realized since I've always known, but a good reminder ) I have MUCH to learn when it comes to photography, but I am trying and hope to someday take a couple more classes in it to expand my knowledge.

I've uploaded some pictures from my short little trip to Washington, D.C. this past summer. I have several, but just chose to upload some of my favorites. I rather like some of the ones from the Vietnam War Memorial. I did not expect to like the city much (imagining it to be rather dry monuments and such), but once one adds the human aspect to the entire scene (e.g. actual veterans and families at the memorials), it can be beyond moving.

Like I did a couple of years ago, I'm planning on basing my semester English project in photography; I wanted to use a different medium, but I really enjoy exploring themes through phorography, so why not? It will not be self-portraits this time (haha, those were getting old...), but rather a series of portraits/symbolic representations of life, disparity arising from economic conditions, etc. I should really get started on that...since the class ends in a couple of weeks...whoops! I do need some models, however, so if you're free, let me know!
